SIFF favorite, Turkish-Italian director, Ferzan Ozpetek (Facing Windows, Golden Space Needle Award, SIFF 2004), screens again in Seattle with his new comedy, Loose Cannons ("Mine Vaganti"), a film about family disruption, love, and liberty. Tommaso (emerging star Riccardo Scamarcio, also in The Big Dream at SIFF 2010) is the youngest son of the Cantones, a large, traditional southern Italian family operating a pasta-making business since the 1960s. On a trip home from Rome, where he studies literature and lives with his boyfriend, Tommaso decides to tell his parents the truth about himself. But when he is finally ready to come out in front of the entire family, his older brother Antonio (Alessandro Preziosi) ruins his plans. Set in the Lecce, the beautiful Baroque town the Italians call the “Florence of the South,” this film marks a real change in Ozpetek’s filmmaking and writing. He abandons his usual melodramatic atmospheres and enters the genre of comedy, developing perfectly portrayed characters, from charming Tommaso to the drunk/nymphomaniac aunt and Tommaso’s gay Roman friends. In the end, all of them, it turns out, are nothing but loose cannons.

Il SIFF si terrà dal 20 maggio al 13 giugno 2010. A Seattle (USA), festival dove vota il pubblico, nel 2004 Ozpetek vinse con 'La finestra di fronte' ('Facing Windows') il Premio come Miglior Film e come 'Maestro Emergente del Cinema Internazionale', un premio dato dai critici ogni anno a un regista che si segnala per le sue opere in tutto il mondo.

"Loose Cannons" sarà proiettato per Contemporary World Cinema: 21, 22 e 25 maggio.

che appare nella foto e che lo rende unico ed impareggiabile perchè senza nulla togliere a Scamarcio, ma quella di Ale è la

bellezza affascinante di un uomo maturo e nello stesso tempo perennemente giovanissimo!!!

Ho avuto modo di seguire la premiazione in tv,ed ero certa che "Mine vaganti" prendesse dei premi.Sono daccordissimo con la giuria,i due premi agli attori non protagonisti sono stati strameritati.-
Bravi e ancora bravi a tutti.
Ozpetek straordinario!!!!!!!!
Alessandro non era nelle candidature ma questo non vuol dire che non sia stato apprezzato,anzi....

Concordo in pieno Marilena,Mine vaganti meritava sicuramente qualche premio in piu'!!!Come ho gia' detto gli attori sono stati tutti bravi e un grande Alessandro anche se breve,ma intensissima la sua partecipazione!

Grazie delle news............e gli esiti dei DAvid per Mine Vaganti anche se penso come altre meritasse qualcosina in più sono stati più che buoni, erano candidati e sono stati premiati gli attori con più esperienza, infatti nessuno dei tre giovani era candidato ma non vuol dire che non siamo stati apprezzati o non abbiano svolto bene il loro lavoro, anzi la critica trovo sia stata molto positiva con tutti e tre.
