There is a interactive game on the internet called VMK.com (Virtual Magic Kingdom). I read about a young boy in the United States who was receiving treatment for cancer in the hospital. He was unable to leave the sterile environment for a while, as well as being ill from the cancer and treatments. He and his mother talked about how he played this game online while he could not do much else. It is an interactive game that allows adults and children to create a character and enter a virtual replica of Walt Disney World. They can talk and play with other children's characters from around the world. My children and I play this game and have made a lot of fun online friends. It is a pretty safe environment, however, should always be monitored by a parent. Which is why I play with my children. This young cancer patient also started a fund campaign that raised funds to provide the hospitals with notebook computers and equipment so that other children would be able to play and have outside communication while receiving treatments and recovering. Similar to "a Hole in the Wall" discussed on this web-site.

You may have already heard about this game, but in case you have not, perhaps it is something a child could enjoy whether he/she is ill or healthy.
This is a really touching story about this young boy who is ill and played this game when there was nothing else he could really do because of his illness.
Just thought I would put this out there for the children elsewhere, whether healthy or sick and dealing with the things of life that no child should have to endure.
Also....children can type in their own language and chat with their friends through this game. They do not have to talk English unless they wish. I have seen other children speaking various languages while playing with their friends. They can have friends at home and abroad.
